More April

We were invited to an open house at the Sisters in Amsterdam apartment. They had done some major cleaning. Sister Stout (right) made waffles and apple sauce that was to die for.

We brought Soule and Peter with us. Soule does not like to look at the camera. Peter and Soule cannot go in the missoinary apartments but they visited through the kitchen window. Soule kept asking why we came all the way to Amsterdam if we could not go in.

We made another Stop in Liege for Doners.

We were trying to find a special place for pannekooken that Sister Rich had visited. We found it but it was closed. Next to it was this beautiful Cathedral.
Mirjam was baptized May 29. She stands next to Geerte who is in medical school. She was baptized by Joachim who introduced her to the gospel. Sister Everton spoke at her baptism.

Remko was following Quincy around like a puppy dog. He did everything Quincy did. Quincy gave the closing prayer at the Baptism. He had been fasting and gave a beautiful paryer.

Mirjam Father, Brother and Sister attended. Her mother was also there but not in this picture.

This is Richard and Annafluer. They ride thier motorcycles to church. The help with the YSA in Utrect.

This is the second counselor to the Stake President. In Europe, when they ride a motorcycle, they are well protected.

This is Clarissa. Elder Anderson had the honor of baptizing her. She went to YSA for a long time before joining the church. Her parents were very concerned. They came to the baptism and were very impressed with the ward.

Volleyball in Groningen

As we drove to two Groningen which is 2 hours by car North of us we passed field after field of flowers. The colors were amazing. It was late in the spring so I was surprised to see the flowers. I did not realize the bulbs are grown at so many location through out the Netherlands.
The church has rented a large gym for years. Members come from the Netherlands and Belgium. They run 8 courts simultaneously. This is the Utrecht womens team.

There is a division for competitive teams. The team on the right has Dederik who is a YSA from Utrecht and 3 Chardon brothers.
They won thier division. Sister Everton rewarded them with home made oreos.

The young man in the middle is Remco. We like that name. His sister is on left and a granddaughter of our Brother Vernes from Dordrecht is on the right. The Utrecht youth won their division. Remco told about it in sacrament meeting. They had not practiced. They lost their first game to Den Haag who was very good and practiced for weeks before the tournament. They kept trying and won all the rest of the games. It is a double elimination tournament so they had to pay Den Haag again. The figured they would loose but the ended up winning it all.
